An approved online learning program, for one student at a time

Arizona puts roughly seven to nine thousand dollars a year in a wallet and asks you to educate a child with it. We are a registered vendor in that wallet. These pages explain the parts families get wrong.

Where we sit in the program

OSQR Labs LLC is registered with the Department as an educational service provider, approved under the online learning program category, and set up in ClassWallet. Practically, that means a family can pay us from an ESA account without first having to establish who we are.

What we sell is instruction for one student. A child signs in and works through a session with a tutor that finds their actual level first, explains before it asks, and remembers what happened last time. Afterwards you get a record of it. We are not a curriculum publisher, not a school, and not a worksheet generator — those are different products with different jobs.

Being a registered vendor is not the same as an approved purchase. The Department reviews expenses and has the final word on every one of them. Anyone telling you their product is guaranteed allowable is telling you something they cannot know.

The three things families get wrong

  • Reading their July balance as their annual award. Wallets fund quarterly, in the back half of July, October, January and April. The number on screen in early July is usually the tail of last quarter.
  • Buying a family plan. It looks cheaper and it is the harder thing to get through, because funds are per student and a multi-user subscription needs a receipt that breaks out each child anyway.
  • Following generic Arizona homeschool advice. Most of it opens by telling you to file an affidavit of intent, which an ESA family is forbidden from doing.

Is OSQR an approved Arizona ESA vendor?

OSQR Labs LLC is registered with the Arizona Department of Education as an educational service provider and approved under the online learning program category, and is set up in ClassWallet so families can pay directly. That means we can be paid from an ESA account. It is not a promise that any particular purchase will be approved — the Department decides that, and no vendor can decide it for them.

How much of my award does this use?

A student account starts at $29 a month at list price — the same price anyone pays, ESA or not. Three quarters of Arizona awards fall between $7,000 and $9,000 a year, so a full year of tutoring is a low single-digit percentage of one student’s award.

Do I need to buy something for each child?

Yes. ESA funds are held per student and one student’s account cannot pay for another’s. Arizona also will not accept a single family subscription unless the receipt breaks out each student’s individual share. Each of our accounts belongs to one student and produces its own receipt.

My child is enrolled in an online charter school. Can we use this?

You can use the tutor, but not with ESA funds — charter schools are public schools in Arizona, and an ESA student cannot be enrolled in a public school. That catches a lot of families who assume an online charter sits outside the rule.

What do I get that proves the money was spent on education?

Two things. A student-named itemised receipt for the purchase, which is what ClassWallet asks for. And separately, a record of what your child actually worked on in each session — what was covered, where they got stuck, and whether they were ever simply handed the answer.
