Keep your number. Forward the calls you miss.
The number on your truck stays yours — it stays at your carrier, on your bill, under your name. You add one forwarding rule to it, so a call you do not pick up rings your OSQR line instead of going to voicemail. Takes about a minute, and one code turns it off again. We never hold, port or touch your number.
Before you start
- Have your OSQR number ready. It is on your line’s setup card in the app. The codes below use our own demo line, (623) 232-0185, as the example — put your number in its place, ten digits, no spaces.
- On an iPhone, turn off Live Voicemail first. Settings → Phone → Live Voicemail → off. Live Voicemail can pick up an unanswered call before your carrier gets the chance to forward it.
- Forward missed calls, not every call, unless you want OSQR to be the one answering. The conditional codes let your phone ring first and only send the call on when you do not pick up, are on another call, or are out of signal.
AT&T and T-Mobile
Both use the same codes. Dial each one like a phone number and press Call; a confirmation screen or tone means it took. Set the three conditional ones separately — each covers a different case.
**61*6232320185#**67*6232320185#**62*6232320185#**21*6232320185#Turn it off: ##61#, ##67#, ##62# or ##21# turn each one off; ##004# turns off all three conditional ones at once. If a code does not take, your carrier may need to enable forwarding on the account — one call to them fixes it.
Verizon
Verizon has one conditional code that covers both no-answer and busy. Your phone rings three or four times first.
*716232320185*726232320185Turn it off: *73 turns forwarding off. If a code does not take, your carrier may need to enable forwarding on the account — one call to them fixes it.
Xfinity Mobile
No-answer only; you cannot change how long it rings first. It has to be dialled from the Xfinity phone itself, not from a computer.
*716232320185*726232320185Turn it off: *73 turns forwarding off. If a code does not take, your carrier may need to enable forwarding on the account — one call to them fixes it.
A landline or office phone
Most landlines and cable voice services use the same two codes. Some offer *92 for no-answer forwarding (and *93 to cancel it); if *72 is the only one yours accepts, every call forwards right away.
*726232320185*926232320185Turn it off: *73 (or *93 for the no-answer rule) turns it off. If a code does not take, your carrier may need to enable forwarding on the account — one call to them fixes it.
Google Voice and VoIP apps
Phone apps forward from a settings page instead of a dial code. In every one of them, the rule is the same: when unanswered, forward to your OSQR number. Turn off any “press 1 to accept” screening on that rule — OSQR answers with a voice and does not press keys.
- Google Voice
- voice.google.com → Settings → Calls. Add your OSQR number as a linked number, or set it as the forwarding destination. Turn off Call Screening: OSQR answers with a voice and will not press a key.
- RingCentral
- Phone settings → Call handling → Missed calls (or the after-hours rule) → Forward to external number → your OSQR number. Set the ring count short enough that a caller is not waiting through two sets of rings.
- Dialpad
- Admin settings → your number → Call routing → if no answer, forward to an external number → your OSQR number. Turn off "press 1 to accept" on that forward; OSQR will not press it.
- OpenPhone
- Settings → the number → Call forwarding → forward to your OSQR number, either always or when unanswered.
- Grasshopper
- Settings → Call forwarding → add your OSQR number as the last stop in the forwarding order, so it rings after you.
- Zoom Phone
- Phone settings → Call handling → when unanswered, forward to an external number → your OSQR number.
Then test it from a second phone
Have someone call your number and let it ring out. Your OSQR line should pick up, in the voice you chose, from your own documents. Hang up without saying anything and the caller gets a text back within a minute. If the call went to your old voicemail instead, Live Voicemail or call screening is still on, or the code did not take — dial it again and listen for the confirmation.
Texts are not affected by call forwarding. A customer who texts your old number still reaches your old number; the OSQR number answers texts of its own once the carriers have registered it.
